Portrait of Blanca

Blanca

Instructor & Owner

Blanca has dedicated 23 years to working in the fascinating world of diving. Her story in paradise began 21 years ago, when she decided to try her luck in Cozumel. She had already visited the island a couple of times and had even been offered a job. She thought, “Why not go and try out this diving world?” And here she remains, doing something she is deeply passionate about!

She loves the sea and adores the feeling that every time she returns from vacation, it feels like she’s still on vacation.

Regarding food, her undisputed favorite is Mexican food, though she also confesses a great love for pizza.

Her two most faithful companions complete her world: her dogs Muñeca and Scuba

When she has a day off, she loves to disconnect, enjoying a good movie at the cinema or getting hooked on a series.

Portrait of Paco

Paco

Administrator & Owner

Originally from Belgium, his life has been connected to the ocean through diving for 16 years.

What most seduces him about Cozumel is the tranquility and the slow pace of life. He considers the island to be his paradise.

As a diver, he feels completely naked without his camera underwater. For him, the dive isn’t complete if he can’t capture that world.

Outside of the sea, his great passion is board games. He’s a true fanatic, and it’s his ideal plan for a day off. He enjoys cooking, and his culinary weakness is a Filet Mignon with green peppercorn sauce. His home is shared with his two furry companions, Scuba and Muñeca (Doll).

Portrait of Katia

Katia

Instructor & Admin

Katia is Brazilian, and the sea has always been a fundamental part of her life. She realized her diving dream at the age of 17 with her Open Water course, an experience she’ll never forget. Although she studied and worked in Marine Biology, life gradually guided her toward professional diving.

She has been a certified Instructor since 2016 and came to Cozumel specifically for work. She was searching for the perfect island where she could dive year-round—somewhere with warm water, great visibility, and where she could get around easily by bike. Cozumel fit the bill, and she’s been diving on this wonderful island for seven years.

Katia’s furry companion is her dog, Marea (Tide). On her days off, she enjoys taking Marea to the beach, staying home to read or watch movies, and spending time with friends. When it comes to food, she is truly passionate about mole, calling it the most delicious food in the world.

Portrait of Manuel

Manuel

Captain

Manuel is the Captain of the boat Serenity and a true native of the island. Born and raised in Cozumel, he brings 20 years of experience dedicated to the sea, navigation, and diving operations.

What truly captivates him are the island’s legendary sunsets, which provide the perfect close to every workday. When he is not at the helm of the Serenity, he focuses on staying fit by training at the gym.

His favorite comfort food is the rich and savory Mexican dish, mole.

His life on the island is centered around his family. He is a proud father to two daughters, Emily and Natalia, and his home is shared with his beloved pets, Cloe and Peluche.

Portrait of Jorge

Jorge

Instructor

From the Yucatan peninsula, Jorge is a passionate enthusiast of diving and aquatic exploration. He has lived in Cozumel for 20 years, which has provided him with vast experience and the opportunity to become an accomplished Dive Instructor.

What excites him most is sharing his knowledge. He knows the Cozumel reefs from North to South, allowing him to plan perfect dives for any skill level.

In addition to guiding, Jorge loves underwater photography.

Outside of the water, he is fascinated by the culture and flavors of the Yucatán Peninsula. A good local stew or street foods like tamales and panuchos are the perfect complement to his workday!

Portrait of Zimri

Zimri

Boat "Serenity" Captain & Guest Services

Zimri is originally from Veracruz and initially came to Cozumel for work, unaware that it was an island or that diving was a major activity there. It was a huge surprise!

Of everything he found, what immediately won him over was the color of the sea. He had never seen such an intense and crystal-clear blue; that beautiful view is what convinced him to stay.

He has been with Blue Project for seven years. He began his career as a warehouse assistant and, thanks to his dedication and constant learning, he successfully ascended to become a Captain. It has been a remarkable evolution in his career.

In his free time, his favorite plan is to relax by watching movies. Regarding his culinary tastes, his weakness is something simple but delicious: Cold Soup (Sopa Fría).

His life in the Caribbean is complete with his beloved dog named Princesa.

Portrait of Tere

Tere

Guest Services

Tere has been living in Cozumel for nearly 33 years, making her a true local. Out of that time, 11 years have been dedicated to this dive company, where she plays an important role behind the scenes.

What she loves most about the island are its beaches and the sea; she escapes to the shore whenever she can.

At home, she is mom to her daughter, Amairany (Amy), and shares her life with her dog, Kofy, and her cat, Coco. To recharge after work, nothing beats her delicious chiles rellenos.

Curiously, Tere taught her daughter to swim in the beautiful Caribbean Sea, even though she doesn’t know how to swim herself!

Portrait of Rafa

Rafa

Rafa was born right on the beautiful island of Cozumel. Although he’s only been in the diving world for three months, he deeply loves his job. What he likes most about the island is, without a doubt, its sea, its beaches, its reefs, and its sunsets.

In his free time, Rafa enjoys playing the guitar and singing. His favorite food is hamburgers.

He has a fascinating, fun fact: as a child, he was terrified of the sea and deep water, but he successfully overcame that fear and is now a certified diver! His journey proves that anyone can discover the magic of the Cozumel depths.

Cozumel Diving Guide Island Life Mexico (8)

“This team is the best. They run a smaller operation with emphasis on safety, quality and unique dive experiences. We have been to Cozumel seven times and visited many dive sites with the Blue Project team that we had not previously been able to see. I highly recommend this dive operation!”
